Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching
AS, AA, and AAS degrees are designed specifically to facilitate the transfer and application of credits earned at Austin Community College to the bachelor degree requirements of most public colleges and universities.
Associate of Applied Science
AAS Degrees are offered in technical programs, designed to prepare students for immediate employment on graduation.
Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates
Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates prepare students to enter a specialized career/technical field or upgrade skills for job advancement. Most certificate awards are structured to allow students to move to a higher level certificate or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree. Students do not need to meet TSI requirements to enroll in a Level 1 Certificate.
Advanced Technical Certificates
Advanced Technical Certificates are designed for students who have completed a related bachelor’s or associate’s degree. ATCs prepare students for a career field with more specialized training.
Enhanced Skills Certificate
Enhanced Skills Certificates are pursued after the completion of an AAS and prepare students for a career field with more specialized training.
Occupational Skills Award
Occupational Skills Awards provide workforce training designed to lead to job entry. Students do not need to meet TSI requirements to enroll in an OSA.
Bachelor’s Degrees at ACC
The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) degrees prepare individuals with a prior Associate of Applied Science in a technical field to enhance their credentials and provide upward mobility in the workforce.
Tip: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Arts in Teaching are the three degree plans most likely to have most courses transfer to a public university in Texas. Associate of Applied Arts degrees and certificates are designed for students who want to learn a skill and jump right into the workforce.
