Paying for College
Paying for College
At ACC, we’re committed to making higher education affordable for everyone. Link to Paying for College for information on scholarships, financial aid and more ways to save.
Most students are eligible for some type of assistance – from grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study. The Financial Aid Office at ACC will work with you to explore options and access the funds you need to achieve a college education. Also, be aware that ACC offers interest-free payment plans as an option to help make paying tuition affordable and manageable. (If accepting Financial Aid, you will want to communicate with the Financial Aid Office to verify if you need to pay anything else, or to see if you will need to make payments.)
Here’s a glossary of terms that can help you as you are making decisions on paying for college:
Scholarships
Students can apply for scholarships through a range of organizations, including through ACC. This is another source of money that you don’t have to pay back.
Loans
Loans are money that you do have to pay back. You may see subsidized or unsubsidized loans in your aid award. With subsidized loans, the interest is paid for by the government while you are in school. With unsubsidized loans, you are responsible for interest that accrues while you are in school.
Work Study
Eligible students can work part-time in a community service position or field related to your area of study. You will know if you are awarded work study based on your financial aid award.
